Crawlers and technical

Why does Google-Extended matter for brands?

Google-Extended matters because it lets site owners express controls over certain uses of their content for generative systems, separately from ordinary search crawling.

It is a robots.txt control token rather than a separate crawler identity. Its scope should be distinguished from access rules for conventional search.

It is not a general switch for all generated search features. Access decisions should follow the current published scope of the control.
